FIRE CAUSES MINOR DAMAGE TO MORONGO VALLEY HOME SUNDAY

A Morongo Valley home suffered minor damage in a fire Sunday morning. According to Morongo Valley Fire Captain Andrew Arthen, a passer-by called at 8:19 a.m. to report a debris fire off Warren Martin. When Morongo Valley and CalFire firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming out of the front door of a small, 700-square foot residence. The homeowner had tried to put out the fire in the living room himself, but the fire had spread into the walls of the structure. Arthen said the damage was minimal, with about $200 in damage to the structure and $100 to the contents. A cigarette is believed to have caused the fire.
