Fire destroyed a home in Twentynine Palms Thursday morning. A neighbor called to report the fire in the 6100 block of Baileya Avenue at 10:48 a.m. When Twentynine Palms firefighters, aided by firefighters from the Combat Center and Joshua Tree, arrived, they found heavy black smoke and flames coming from the home’s front porch. Fire Captain Dave Faller said four or five vehicles were also on fire. Firefighters had the flames under control in about 20 minutes, but the house and a couple of the vehicles are a total loss. The residents were not home at the time of the fire. The investigation for the cause of the blaze has been turned over to the Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson division.
