FIRE AT YUCCA VALLEY WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITY UNDER INVESTIGATION

Update 06/23: According to town animal control officer Doug Smith, the cat was too injured to save.

A fire at Burrtec Waste Services in Yucca Valley yesterday (June 21) is under investigation. San Bernardino County Firefighters were called just before 1 p.m., to the facility after multiple large roll-off containers caught fire. Crews initiated a defense attack while windy conditions hampered visibility and created an exposure threat. Additionally, a firefighter on the scene located an injured cat. The fire was ultimately knocked down in one hour and crews remained on-scene for more than two hours to assist with clean-up. The cause of the fire is under investigation by San Bernardino County Fire Investigators. Animal Control was requested for the injured cat and Z107.7 News will follow up with any update on the cat’s condition.
