Have you heard about fulgurites? A fulgurite is formed when lightning hits wet sand. The sand melts and turns into a glass tube. Reporter Eric Knabe has the mysterious details about how to find them…
Meet at the gazebo in the Wonder Valley Park located at Corner of Amboy and Blower Roads in Wonder Valley, Tuesday April 3 at 9 a.m. Darlene Parris will show you fulgurites that she has collected and will tell you all about them. Then Parris will take you walking in the nearby desert and show you how to find fulgurites. It won’t be far, maybe 20 feet, or so. Bring a hat and water, a collection bag, a small digging implement (like a trowel), and anything else you need to be comfortable (chair, gloves, sunscreen, snack). Everyone is welcome.
