FINAL WEEKEND FOR “A BAD YEAR FOR TOMATOES” AT THEATRE 29

Theatre 29’s Best of season, celebrating favorite past productions, has opened with the comedy “A Bad Year for Tomatoes.” Rebecca Havely says this is the last weekend to see the hilarious farce…
“A Bad Year for Tomatoes” is a comedy by John Patrick, directed by Char Childs. It follows the story of famous actress Myra Marlowe, played by Janet Peercy, who leases a house in the tiny New England hamlet to escape her acting career demands, write a book, and just grow some tomatoes. She wards off demands made by her long-time agent, played by Kevin Myers. Her nosy neighbors; played by Brandy Hazel, Hope Spicer, Morgan Pennington, and Earl Childs; are not as easy to ward off. The actress invents a mad, homicidal sister kept locked in an upstairs room, who escapes just long enough to scare off uninvited visitors. The uproarious antics that follow are enough to keep audiences laughing right up until the final curtain. The final shows of “A Bad Year for Tomatoes” is this weekend, with performances Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. with tickets ranging from $10 to $15.
