December 31 is the last day that you can donate to the Morongo Basin Humane Society’s shoe collection drive fundraiser. If you have a new pair of shoes that you won’t use, or a gently worn or used pair, you can put those shoes to work for good. All shoes collected will be sold to a social enterprise network which will redistribute the donated shoes to family-operated small businesses in developing nations. All proceeds will go towards the Morongo Basin Humane Society’s no-kill animal shelter in Joshua Tree. Collection bins are located in Yucca Valley at Five-Star Fitness and the Sprint Store, in the new Stater Bros. shopping center; at 29 Paws Pet Grooming in Twentynine Palms; and at the Morongo Basin Humane Society’s no-kill Shelter in Joshua Tree.
