FILING FOR TOWN AND CITY COUNCIL, OTHER LOCAL OFFICES, OPENS MONDAY

If you are interested in serving on the Yucca Valley Town Council, Yucca Valley residents who live in District 2 or District 4 can pull election papers from the Yucca Valley Town Clerk beginning Monday, July 13.

In addition, other seats up for election in the Morongo Basin are on the Hi-Desert Water District, the Joshua Basin Water District, Twentynine Palms Water District, Bighorn Desert View Water District, Copper Mountain College, the Morongo Unified School District, the Hi-Desert Memorial Healthcare District, the Yucca Valley Airport District, and the Morongo Valley Community Services District.

In Twentynine Palms, notice has been given regarding open positions on the city council. And those positions are just two of about 300 county positions up for election come November. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…

The City of Twentynine Palms has announced that a general municipal election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, for two open seats on the city council for Districts 1 and 2.

Each seat carries a four-year term. If no one is nominated for these elective offices, appointments may be made as prescribed by the states’ Elections Code.

Also, the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters announced it will offer contact-free services to candidates with a new My Candidacy Gateway web application and as well as video conference appointments.

Candidate filing for the November 3 presidential general election begins Monday, July 13, and continues through 5 p.m. on Friday, August 7. There are approximately 300 local offices up for election county-wide, including school district, special district and city offices.
