FIGHTING CACTI BASKETBALL: MEN WIN, WOMEN LOSE, LAST GAME OF THE SEASON

Copper Mountain men’s basketball team capped off the regular season with another home victory Thursday night, beating Saddleback College 74-60.
Coach Devin Aye said, “CMC played a complete game against traditional state powerhouse Saddleback College. Throughout the first half the Fighting Cacti made tough shots and played solid defense, giving them the advantage at the half 37-26. In the second half Copper Mountain continued to execute and play tenacious defense allowing them to put Saddleback away with the 14 point victory 74-60.”

Jailen Moore led the Fighting Cacti in scoring with 18 points. Murshid Randle scored 14 points, Ronald Bell and Rosemond Alexis both added 12 points to round off the double digit scorers for CMC. With the win Copper Mountain clinched its first-ever playoff berth, also finishing their inaugural regular season 20-9 on the year 7-5 in Orange Empire Conference play and undefeated at home. Hopefully, CMC will be able to host their first round game next Friday February 23. The opponent and time are still undetermined.
