Felon found hiding in Landers garage with semi-automatic weapon

A convicted felon was found hiding in a Landers garage and alleged to be in possession of a semi-automatic weapon.

On Wednesday (July 31), Sheriff’s Deputies from the Morongo Basin Station served a search warrant in the 4000 block of Artesia Ave in Lander. Deputies say that during the search, they found Shawn Anderson 52, hiding in a garage. Deputies also say they found a loaded, semi-automatic handgun in the garage. Anderson is a convicted felon and prohibited from having firearms.

While on parole in 2015, Anderson was found by deputies hiding in a Joshua Tree garage. He was arrested on drug and weapons charges in 2019.

Shawn Anderson was arrested on suspicion of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and booked into the West Valley Detention Center where he is being held without bail.
