FBI INVESTIGATING THE SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

In the wake of a horrific beating captured on camera by a KNBC News Helicopter, the FBI has initiated an investigation to determine whether civil rights were violated during the pursuit and altercation involving Francis Jared Pusok and San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies.

“The results of the review will be forwarded to the United States Attorney’s Office in the Central District of California, and the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, in Washington, D.C., to determine whether further investigation and/or prosecution is warranted,” according to a statement released April 13 by the federal agency.

The ten deputies involved in the arrest of Pusok, who was apparently tased and beaten while being taken into custody, have been placed on administrative leave while a two-prong investigation by the Sheriff’s Department is under way.
