FATHER ARRESTED FOR CHILD ENDANGERMENT

A Joshua Tree man was arrested Monday evening, accused of letting his young toddler son wander around unsupervised. According to a Sheriff’s report, the child was found outside alone about 7 p.m. near his home near Avenida la Flora Desierta and Calle Las Sierras in Joshua Tree. A deputy responded and sometime later, the father, identified as Alan Chellberg, 49, arrived and demanded his child back. The deputy determined Chellberg had been drinking, and so performed a welfare check on the boy’s home. The report states the deputy found numerous items that could cause bodily harm or death to the child, including alcoholic beverages that were in the child’s reach. The boy was released to a relative, and Alan Chellberg was arrested for investigation of child endangerment, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
