A father and son were arrested in Yucca Valley Friday, accused of spouse abuse and assault with a sword. About 11:40 p.m. Friday, neighbors in the 7700 block of Bannock Trail in Yucca Valley called to report that there was a man outside yelling that he had a gun. When deputies arrived, they learned that a man had been stabbed inside a nearby home. During the investigation, deputies determined that Jeffrey Wire Sr., 44, had physically assaulted a victim inside the home, at which time, Wire’s son, Jeffrey Wire Jr., 20, intervened and stabbed his father in the back with a sword. The wound was non-life-threatening, and Wire Sr. was treated by paramedics at the scene. Jeffrey Wire Sr. was arrested on suspicion of felony spouse abuse, and Jeffrey Wire Jr. was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon. They were both booked into the West Valley Detention Center with their bail set at $50,000 each.
