FATAL MOTORCYCLE VS VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 62

Officers from the Desert Hot Springs Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. motorcycle traffic collision late last night (October 21) near Highway 62 and Pierson Blvd. in Desert Hot Springs.

According to a press release, officers determined the driver, identified as Mia Janae Perry, of Rialto, was traveling westbound on Pierson Blvd. in a Toyota Solara while a 55-year-old resident of Yucca Valley was northbound on Highway 62 on a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The Solara failed to yield to oncoming traffic and proceeded across Highway 62. The Harley Davidson collided into the Solara and the motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The identity of the rider was not released. 

Perry was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence (drugs) and gross vehicular manslaughter. She was later booked at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Benoit Detention Center in Indio. The Desert Hot Springs Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and is investigating the collision.
