Updated: Fatal crash on 29 Palms Highway Saturday afternoon

A man is dead after losing control of his motorcycle on Twentynine Palms Highway.

On Saturday afternoon (October 28), emergency responders, including County Sheriff’s Deputies and San Bernardino County Fire arrived to the intersection of Larrea Avenue and Twentynine Palms Highway for reports of a motorcycle crash. 

The man, identified only as a 60 year-old resident of Twentynine Palms, was given medical care at the scene, and transported to High Desert Medical Center. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Deputies investigated the scene and determined the victim traveled southbound on Larrea Avenue, lost control of his motorcycle, and ran off the roadway into a ditch. No other vehicles were involved in the collision. This case is currently under investigation.   

UPDATED 6 p.m. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s office released the name of the man who lost control of his motorcycle, crashing on Larrea Ave near Twentynine Palms on Saturday afternoon (October 28). Manuel Leonardo Martinez, a 60 year-old resident of Twentynine Palms, was traveling southbound on Larrea Avenue when Sheriff’s Deputies report he lost control of his motorcycle, and ran off the roadway into a ditch.
