FATAL CRASH IN YUCCA VALLEY SATURDAY

We have limited information following a fatal crash in Yucca Valley Saturday (October 16) evening. According to a Sheriff’s department press release, just before 5 p.m., deputies responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Highway 62 and Airway Ave in Yucca Valley. On scene, deputies found a total of three victims, all suffering from various types of injuries. Investigators believe from evidence obtained from the scene and witness statements, that a maroon 1999 Ford Windstar was traveling westbound on Highway 62, and for unknown reasons, crossed the center turn lane and struck a white 2014 Toyota Corolla that was traveling eastbound on Highway 62.  The Toyota had two occupants who were transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. The single occupant of the Ford was also transported by ground to a local hospital where, despite life-saving measures, they were pronounced deceased.

The eastbound number two lane of Highway 62 was closed while investigators processed the scene and collected evidence. The collision remains under investigation, and it is unknown if drugs, alcohol, or a medical emergency were factors in the crash. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending contact with the next of kin. Any witnesses are asked to contact Sgt K. McCurdy or Deputy R. Stucki from the Morongo Sheriff Station at 760-366-4175.
