One person is dead following a two-car crash in Desert Hot Springs early Friday morning. According to Desert Hot Springs police, just before 5:15 a.m., two cars collided on Palm Drive, just south of Camino Campanero. Both vehicles were badly damaged in the collision. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to remove two occupants from one vehicle; one was seriously injured and the other received moderate injuries. They were taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. The driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim’s name has not yet been released. Palm Drive was closed to all traffic for about six hours during the investigation. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
