FATAL CRASH CAUSES INTERSTATE 10 TO BE CLOSED BOTH DIRECTIONS AT ARIZONA BORDER

Due to a crash between a semi-truck and a tour bus early this morning, Interstate 10 will be closed at the Arizona state line until 2 this afternoon. About 2 a.m., the tractor-trailer hauling steel pipe jack-knifed on the eastbound 10 just west of the state line in Blythe. The trailer overturned, spilling pipes into the eastbound and westbound lanes. On the westbound side, a tour bus, traveling from El Paso, Texas, to Los Angeles, struck the pipes and overturned. Four people were killed in the crash. All lanes in both directions of I-10 will be closed until 2 p.m.

Eastbound I-10 should detour using State Route 177 at Desert Center to Highway 62 and US 95 to connect back with the freeway.

Westbound I-10 Use exit #1 just west of the state line. Turn right onto Poston Road for about 30 miles. Turn left onto Agnes Wilson for about 10 miles. Take US-95 back to I-10.
