FAMILY OF MAN HURT IN OHV CRASH RAISING FUNDS

The family of a Yucca Valley man who was severely injured in an off-vehicle crash in March is raising funds to help with their expenses. Jason Humenik, 35, was thrown from a sand rail in the Sunfair Dry Lake bed in Joshua Tree March 22 and suffered a broken collarbone and three broken ribs, a partially collapsed lung, fluid on the brain that had to be drained via a hole in his skull, and has been drifting in and out of a coma for the past month. His family has established an account at Bank of America where donations can be made to the Jason Humenik Fund, or via PayPal, at Helping the Humenik Family. Donation jars have been put out at businesses in Yucca Valley. In addition, donations of gift cards, money, toiletries, and non-perishables can be sent to an address in this story at KCDZFM.com. The family has also set up a FaceBook page, Helping the Humenik Family, that provides updates and information on how to help the family. A benefit car wash and bake sale will be held Saturday, May 4, at the Jack-in-the-Box parking lot in Yucca Valley from 10 to 1. For more information, visit the FaceBook page, Helping the Humenik Family.
