FAMILY FUN AT OKTOBERFEST IN YUCCA VALLEY TONIGHT

Time to dig out the lederhosen and dirndls. Oktoberfest is returning to Yucca Valley. The day-long event will feature live music, dancing, food, and contests, including a contest for best costume. Vendors will offer food, crafts, and art. Oktoberfest will be held today at the Brehm Sports Park, behind the Boys and Girls Club in Yucca Valley, from 2 to 10 p.m., with children’s activities from 2 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 and $2 for children, and go on sale September 1 from the Yucca Valley Rotary Club and Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Kalifornia Krauts are the headliner at the Yucca Valley Rotary’s Oktoberfest, set for September 21 from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Brehm Sports Park in Yucca Valley. The band will entertain with bawdy and danceable polkas. Joining the Kalifornia Krauts will be the Reallyshooo’s Zydepolk, who play polkas, zydeco, Cajun, and English and Irish music. The contests begin at 4 p.m., with the “Stein Holding/Carrying Contests”, followed by the “Kids Chicken Dance Contest.” At 5 is the non-alcoholic Beer Drinking Contest. At 6, show us your best Polka Dancing, and the ever popular “Two Man Log-Sawing Contest.” The 7 o’clock hour brings the best costume contests (adults and children) and then at 8 is another chance for Beer Drinking and Stein holding, followed by the Adult Chicken Dance Contest.
