FAMILIES OF HIKERS MISSING IN JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK TO OFFER REWARD

The families of two hikers who went missing nearly a month ago in Joshua Tree National Park will announce Saturday that they will offer a reward for their safe return. Rachel Nguyen, 20, and Joseph Orbeso, 21, were reported missing July 28 when the owner of the vacation rental in Joshua Tree where they had been staying discovered they had left all their belongings behind. The couple’s car was subsequently found at the trailhead for the Maze Loop Trail, just inside the Joshua Tree entrance of the park. Despite intensive daily searches for two weeks by hundreds of searchers on foot, from the air, and by dogs, no signs have been found of Nguyen and Orbeso. The search has transitioned into what is known as a “limited continuous search mode.” The missing hikers’ families will announce the reward amount at a press conference Saturday morning. Anyone who has information about Rachel Nguyen and Joseph Orbeso should call 760-367-5520.
