Nationally known playwright Phil Olsen is no stranger to Theatre 29. His musical comedy, “Don’t Hug Me, I’m Pregnant” has graced its stage and now a reading of his latest comedy script, “A Twisted Christmas Carol,” will be performed. With the details, here’s Rebecca Havely…
Theatre 29 is hosting an exclusive two-performance staged reading of the original comedy, “A Twisted Christmas,” Saturday night, September 8, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, September 9, at 2:30 p.m. Playwright Phil Olson will attend to get feedback from the actors as well as the audience to “tune-up” the play before it goes into national circulation. The play is set at “Buford’s Open Pit Barbeque” in rural West Texas, on Christmas Eve. The delightfully quirky characters will be read by veteran Theatre 29 actors Cindy Daigneault, Charles Harvey, Graham Cooley, Liyan Lagevardi, and Cody Joseph, and will be directed by Desert Theater League award-winning director and Theatre 29 Board President Gary Daigneault.
Seating for “A Twisted Christmas Carol” staged reading is first-come first-seated. Tickets are $10 general admission and $7 for students with ID. Season ticket holders get in free. Visit theatre29.org or call the Theatre 29 box office at 760-361-4151. Tickets will also be available at the door. All proceeds go to the Theatre 29 building fund.
