Cooler weather brings campers to our National Park. Park Ranger Pam Tripp offers visitors some camping tips…
With this season’s cooler weather, campsites in Joshua Tree National Park have begun to fill every weekend, as early as Friday morning and through the weekends. Reservations can be made for Indian Cove and Black Rock, but the others are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each campground has its own special qualities. You can camp among huge rock formations at Hidden Valley, Jumbo Rocks, White Tank, Belle, or Indian Cove. Gaze at the gorgeous night skies at Black Rock or Cottonwood, or for a more rugged experience, try camping in the back country. Campfires are allowed in designated fire rings; however, you must bring your own firewood as gathering of any vegetation in the park is prohibited. No fires are allowed in the back country, and, as always, bring plenty of water. Stop by any of our three visitor centers to get maps and information, and to learn more about the camping rules and regulations. To make camping reservations, call 877-444-6777.
