Failure to yield leads to high-speed pursuit and arrest in Twentynine Palms

A high-speed pursuit in Twentynine Palms led to the forcible arrest of the suspect in her own yard.

On Friday at 10:30 a.m., deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver Nissan that they say failed to stop at a stop sign on Utah Trail near Twentynine Palms Highway. The Sheriff’s Department identified the driver of the Nissan as Kristin Brock Jonez, a 41 year-old resident of Twentynine Palms.

Deputies say Brock Jonez failed to yield, initiating a high-speed pursuit through Twentynine Palms, during which she is reported to have driven on the wrong side of the road and hit speeds of 80 miles per hour.

Deputies say Brock Jonez drove back to her property in the 74000 block of Alta Loma Drive in Twentynine Palms. There, deputies say that she refused to follow orders, and they used force to restrain her, injuring the back of her head and causing bleeding.

Kristin Brock Jonez was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and felony evasion, and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center on $30,000 bail.
