A Facebook post and an alert resident resulted in the arrest of a Twentynine Palms man who was found with a stolen vehicle. Sometime between 11 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday, the owner of a yellow 2019 Jeep Renegade discovered the vehicle had been stolen while parked in front of her home in Joshua Tree. She posted a photo of the stolen vehicle on Facebook, and a Twentynine Palms resident spotted the car parked in front of a home near El Sol and Hatch Road in Twentynine Palms about 11 p.m. and called Sheriff’s deputies. Deputies confirmed the Jeep was the stolen vehicle, and saw Jeremy Shannon, 27 get in the Jeep and drive off. A short pursuit followed until Shannon fled the Jeep near Sunrise and Samarkand where he ran in to the desert. Deputies tracked Shannon and he was found, hiding in a residence. Jeremy Shannon was arrested for investigation of felony failure to yield, and on several warrants, booked into Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
