Don’t allow scammers to dampen your holiday spirits. Be wary of online gift exchange offers. If you get a status update from a friend that says they’ve joined a Secret Holiday gift exchange, promising upwards of 30 gifts if you join, it’s probably a pyramid scam. In fact, these types of exchanges are considered a form of illegal gambling by the government. So, the only gift you may end up with is legal troubles. If receiving an unknown gift seems thrilling to you, set up a gift exchange with friends and family outside of social media.
