For aircraft pilots, safety has to be a top priority. And toward that end, local pilots and other enthusiasts will want to attend a free seminar designed specifically for areas like our Morongo Basin where general aviation pilots and those working or training for the military often come into contact. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has this report on how anyone can get in on this free opportunity…
General aviation pilots flying in the Morongo Basin will want to consider a free class called “Collision Avoidance With Military Aircraft In Training Exercises.” Hosted by the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center and Copper Mountain College, this is an FAA Safety Team credited seminar. This single session course starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 21 at Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree. The seminar will identify safety issues facing military and general-aviation pilots flying in the Morongo Basin and aims to educate pilots on the different types of military special use airspace. Participation will count toward WINGS credit. To register or for additional information, go to https://www.faasafety.gov/SPANS/event_details.aspx?eid=72848
