EXPECT SOUNDS OF TRAINING FROM MARINE BASE NEXT TWO WEEKS

The Combat Center will host two regimental artillery training exercise April 20 to May 5 in preparation for operations and deployments around the globe. From April 20 to April 28, 11th Marine Regiment is scheduled to conduct Desert Fire Exercise. From April 29 to May 5, they are scheduled to participate in Desert Scimitar with several other 1st Marine Division units. Weather conditions could have an amplifying effect on noise levels in the areas surrounding the perimeter of the Combat Center. The training will allow the three artillery battalions to rehearse and refine their tactics, techniques and procedures involved in coordinating effective fire support during combat operations. Most training activities will conclude by 10 p.m. each day. However, some longer night training will be necessary in order to maximize operational proficiency in low-light conditions. Training will begin in the Combat Center’s western training areas and will progress towards the eastern training areas as the exercise concludes.
