Sheriff’s deputies will be conducting enhanced patrol activities near and on the waterways of the Colorado River from Friday through Monday. They’ll be looking for people who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving boats, or who are driving their boats in a reckless manner. They’ll also be looking for children under the age of 13 who are not wearing their life vests, as required by law. In addition, boat operators who are between the ages of 16 and 25 must have a California Boater Education Card issued by the California Division of Boating and Waterways. This age increases to 35 years next year.

For information on obtaining a card, go to http://californiaboatercard.com.
