“Impaired driving is preventable. It’s a choice.” That’s the message conveyed by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy R. Quiroz Falcon in a message announcing enhanced DUI patrols throughout the Morongo Basin tonight (November 8).
The Sheriff’s Department has said that they will be stepping up DUI enforcement tonight from 4 p.m. to midnight, and they will be out looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
