END OF DAYLIGHT-SAVING TIME MEANS DROWSY DRIVERS

With the end of Daylight-Saving Time on Sunday, and with darkness falling an hour earlier, some drivers may struggle to stay alert. This week is Drowsy Driving Prevention Week, and the California Highway Patrol is reminding people of the dangers of drowsy driving at any time of year. A sleepy driver can be just as impaired or dangerous as one under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In each of the last three years, almost 7,000 collisions involved sleepy or fatigued drivers, resulting in the deaths of 163 people over the three years. The CHP and Caltrans urge drivers to get enough sleep and to take advantage of roadside rest areas if you feel tired.
