Two weeks ago, parts of the Morongo Basin came to a standstill due to a surprise storm that shut down Highway 62 in Joshua Tree. The Twentynine Palms Wildcat football team was returning from an away game and were stranded in Yucca Valley for the night. They took refuge in the Yucca Valley Denny’s restaurant, which welcomed them with open arms and proved that their kitchen never closes. As a gesture of appreciation, all local Denny’s employees will be admitted free to the 51 st Battle of the Bell game tonight on Trojan Field in Yucca Valley. In addition, four Denny’s employees who served the stranded football players during the flood will flip the game coin.
