This Thursday, Z107.7 FM will broadcast a one-day hunger-fighting fundraiser called “Radio Cares: Feeding America Emergency Radiothon” and we’re hoping for listener participation Basin-wide. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…
The economic stress of COVID-19 has made the hunger problem even worse in America. So, this Thursday, April 30, Z107.7 FM will do its part by broadcasting “Radio Cares: Feeding America Emergency Radiothon,” a one-day fundraiser to benefit Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief organization. The proceeds will benefit the Find Food Bank, which distributes food to the 29 Palms Food Pantry and Food for Life in the Morongo Basin.
The Radiothon will air on Z107.7 FM on Thursday for 24 hours, from midnight to midnight. To donate, visit Radiocares.org or text “Feed” to 95819.
Feeding America established the COVID-19 Response Fund on March 13 and has since distributed more than $112 million and over 94 million pounds of food across the US. The organization estimates that $1.4 billion in additional resources will be needed over the next six months to sustain operations, a 30 percent increase from normal baseline costs.
