ELECTION UPDATE: 29 PALMS DISTRICT 4, O’ GILVIE OVER COLE BY ONE VOTE

UPDATE: 403PM 12/4/18

With just ONE DAY left before election results have to be certified, three local races are still too close to call, and one has now turned. John Cole, running for re-election for city council in District 4 in Twentynine Palms, is now losing the seat to challenger Karmolette O’Gilvie by 1 votes, 345 to 346. For Joshua Basin Water District, Mike Reynolds is still ahead of Paul Coate by 11 votes, 1,073 to 1,084. And the Morongo Unified School District’s Measure O bond, which would provide funding for school infrastructure, is inching toward the 55 percent approval rating it needs in order to pass. As of Monday’s vote count, it is holding now at 54.92 percent. The County Registrar of Voters says there are still about 15,000 absentee and provisional votes countywide left to be counted; it’s not known how many of those votes are from the Morongo Basin, but total county voter turn-out was 58 percent. The Registrar is updating its vote count every weekday at 4 p.m. with final results due December 6. Z107.7 News will update this story after today’s count is released.
