EL NINO INFORMATIONAL MEETING MONDAY IN YUCCA VALLEY

The National Weather Service has said there is a 95 percent chance that California will experience a wetter winter season that usual because of El Nino. Already, southern California has experienced several flash floods and mud flows that have killed at least one and trapped hundreds of residents. The San Bernardino County Fire Department Office of Emergency Services will hold an informational meeting about this winter’s expected El Nino storm system. The meeting will be held Monday, November 9, at 5:30 p.m. in the Yucca Valley Community Center. The first 50 attendees will receive a personal disaster preparedness kit. Other organizations who will present information at the meeting are the National Weather Service, the County Public Works Department, CalTrans, and the U.S. Forest Service.
