DEPUTIES RAID EIGHT PROPERTIES, ARREST EIGHT, IN MARIJUANA ERADICATION SWEEP
Sheriff’s deputies raided eight properties in Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, and Landers Wednesday, seizing more than 1,800 marijuana plants and arresting eight people. According to Sheriff’s reports, starting about 8:30 a.m., deputies from the specialized Marijuana Enforcement Team went to addresses in the 10400 block of Fox Trail in Morongo Valley; the 57800 block of La Brisa Drive, and 200 block of Del Mar Street in Yucca Valley; the 200 block of Hilton Avenue, 58800 block of Reche Road, 59500 and 59600 block of Mitch Lane (aka Bearing Tree Road), and 60600 block of Lutz Avenue, all in Landers. The raids resulted in total seizures of more than 1,800 marijuana plants, over 60 pounds of processed marijuana, and 1 firearm. San Bernardino County prohibits the outdoor cultivation of marijuana and the marijuana grows were not in compliance with medical marijuana laws. Eight men, ranging in age from 25 to 74 years of age were arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana, cited and released. The Sheriff’s Department reminds residents that landlords who know that their tenants are growing marijuana in violation of state law and local ordinances may also be subject to civil or criminal sanctions.
