UPDATE ON CORONAVIRUS CASES AT TWENTYNINE PALMS PRESCHOOL

Update: 11-19 at 10 a.m.

Little School of the Desert administrator Carolyn Darr responded to this story stating that 2 teachers and herself had tested positive for the virus, not the 4 teachers reported by the school district. Darr declined to provide the number of students who tested positive citing student confidentiality. Darr also stated that the entire staff of Little School of the Desert has since been tested and that the site is following health department protocol in informing families and disinfecting the site.

The Morongo Unified School District is warning district employees about eight confirmed cases of coronavirus among teachers and students at Little School of the Desert preschool in Twentynine Palms. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has the details…

In an email to local classified school employees Monday afternoon, MUSD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Mike Ghelber confirmed that four teachers and four students attending Little School of the Desert preschool in Twentynine Palms have tested positive for Coronavirus. Ghelber stated that the district is working with custodians and site principals to sanitize the school and undergo contact tracing for students, parents, and staff. Ghelber advised all district employees to increase current practices of wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing, and increasing disinfection practices at this time.
