It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Nope… it’s Southern California Edison. Many Yucca Valley residents have reported a low-flying helicopter hovering over their neighborhoods this week. The helicopter is from Southern California Edison, and the crew aboard the helicopter is conducting maintenance and construction work on existing power lines. These helicopters are often used to assist with maintenance and to inspect power poles and wires from the air in high-fire risk areas. They carry high-tech cameras and software to inspect power poles and wires from the air and use a radiometric infrared camera and HD imager to look for invisible flaws in equipment. So, if you see SCE hovering overhead the next few days, there is no need to worry!
