A magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck 14 miles south-southwest of nearby La Quinta yesterday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was recorded at 11:16 a.m. and was preceded by a 3.4-magnitude quake in the same area at 10:50 a.m. The temblor was centered in the same area as a 4.7 magnitude temblor that hit the same area last week. There were no reports of damage or injury.
