Our home planet, Earth, has seen temperatures rise at an alarming rate, first beginning during the industrial revolution. In an effort to grasp the enormity of the situation, Dr. Robert J. Allen from the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences from UC Riverside, will present a lecture entitled, “Earth Under Fire: How and Why Our Climate is Changing.”

Allen will discuss how climate change will likely continue for centuries, bringing not just increased heat, but also temperature and precipitation extremes, decreases in snow and ice, and sea level rise.

The free lecture will take place at noon, Thursday, August 15, at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum in the Yucca Valley Community Center Complex, 57116 Twentynine Palms Highway in Yucca Valley. For more info, visit http://www.hidesertnaturemuseum.org or call 760-369-7212.
