Firefighters from Yucca Firefighters from Yucca Mesa, Yucca Valley, and Joshua Tree were called out to a fire early this morning. According to County Fire Battalion Chief Mike Snow, The call about a residential structure fire came in at 12:49 a.m. to the 59000 block of Lutz Lane in Yucca Mesa. Yucca Mesa firefighters were first on the scene and determined that a couple of outbuildings, a detached garage, and recreational trailers were burning out of control. It took the 15 firefighters nearly an hour to get the fire knocked down, and they managed to save the family’s primary residence. Snow said a resident had been burning yard waste in a barrel located too close to the exterior of the garage and the light winds caused flames to spread into surrounding structures. The structures and contents, valued at about $50,000, are a total loss.
