DUPLEX FIRE IN YUCCA VALLEY DISPLACES OCCUPANTS

A duplex fire in Yucca Valley on Saturday night (January 8) has left both units uninhabitable. Shortly before 11 p.m., San Bernardino County Fire responded to a reported structure fire in Yucca Valley in the 57000 block of Warren Way. Arriving units were faced with heavy smoke and fire showing from a single-story large duplex.  One unit was reportedly well involved. A press release indicates that firefighters aggressively attacked the fire in the involved unit, but the amount of fire load made access and extinguishment difficult. Firefighters were able to stop the fire at the involved unit. One occupant from the uninvolved unit was displaced due to smoke and water damage. The fire was knocked down in 45 minutes however, crews committed to mop-up and overhaul until about 2 a.m. San Bernardino County Fire received assistance from CalFire and the Sheriff’s office. No injuries were reported in the blaze and the cause is still under investigation.
