DUMPSTER DIVER ARRESTED AFTER FIGHTING WITH SHERIFF’S DEPUTY

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Monday afternoon, accused of dumpster diving and then resisting arrest. According to a Sheriff’s report, a resident in the 5200 block of Adobe Road called about 4:30 p.m. to report a suspicious person who was dumpster diving. The resident had previously reported several burglaries from her home in which items were missing. When deputies arrived, the suspect, identified as George Vaughn, 25, fled, with the deputy in pursuit. When the deputy caught Vaughn, he ordered him to the ground, but the report states that Vaughn attempted to fight the deputy. The deputy then used his taser on Vaughn and struck him several times to subdue him. George Vaughn was then arrested for investigation of resisting arrest, and on warrants for burglary, and violating the terms of his probation. He was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail and is being held without bail.
