DUMOSA AVENUE TO RE-OPEN NEXT WEEK, MORE ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN YUCCA VALLEY

Motorists will soon be able to get to the Yucca Valley Town Hall and Community Center without having to take a detour through residential neighborhoods. Dumosa Avenue is scheduled to be paved on Monday, and is expected to re-open to traffic on Tuesday. Also on Monday, and continuing for the next two weeks, construction will begin on curbs, gutters, and sidewalks from Sage Avenue to Palm Avenue, as well as asphalt patching adjacent to the new curbs and gutters. CalTrans requires that Highway 62 be reduced to one lane in each direction during construction. This project is scheduled to be completed by April 15. However, another project is slated to begin April 28; raised medians will be installed on the highway from Mohawk Trail to Palm Avenue. This project also includes curbs, gutters, and sidewalks from Apache Trail to Palm Avenue on both the north and south sides of the highway, as well as a new traffic signal at Church Street and modification to the existing traffic signal light at the intersection of Mohawk and the highway. Motorists are urged to take Sunnyslope or Onaga Trail to avoid the construction area.
