DUI ARREST IN YUCCA VALLEY

One man was arrested after police say he ran over a mailbox in Yucca Valley while driving drunk. The Sheriff’s department received a call about 1 a.m. Thursday morning from a resident saying someone had just run into her mailbox and a dry fire hydrant in the 7400 block of Apache Trail, and then left. The resident told police she confronted the driver, later identified as Ruben Gutierrez, 33, who told her he couldn’t stay because he didn’t have a driver’s license, and then he left, walking on foot northbound on Apache Trail. Police located Ruben Gutierrez on Acoma Trail and arrested him for investigation of driving under the influence, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08, and on a no-bail warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Gutierrez was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail.
