Drywall is believed to have kept a fire from spreading at a house in Yucca Valley yesterday. According to County Fire Captain Rick Denison, Yucca Valley firefighters were called to a small structure fire in the 58500 block of Paxton Avenue at 7:38 p.m. Denison said they arrived to find smoke coming from the windows and roof, and smoke inside the home was down to the floor with zero visibility. He said the fire was so hot inside all the walls were blackened and all plastic had melted. Denison explained that some drywall will keep fires contained in a room for up to an hour. Firefighters traced the fire to a recliner in a corner of the living room, but the cause is still under investigation.
