DRUG AND SHARPS DROP-OFF AT HI-DESERT MEDICAL CENTER TOMORROW

Protect yourself and the environment by taking old drugs and needles to the Hi-Desert Medical center tomorrow. Reporter Cassie Zimarik has more on the free drop-ff event…
Each year, thousands of pounds of prescription drugs end up in landfills, endangering the environment. Medicines are a special type of hazardous chemical that we need to keep out of our solid waste system and landfills to prevent harm to people and the environment. Along with drugs, used sharps and needles are a contamination and health threat if not properly disposed of. The Hi-Desert Medical Center will be hosting a drop-off event for unwanted prescription drugs and used sharps and needles. If you are dropping off sharps, please bring them in a solid container such as a coffee can. This event is free and there is no sign up required. It all takes place on Saturday, February 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in front of the Helen Gray Education Center on the hospital campus located in Joshua Tree.
