UPDATED 10 a.m.

Just five weeks after a suspected drunk driver crashed into a building in Twentynine Palms, a second suspected drunk driver crashed into another building in Twentynine Palms. Just before 2 a.m., deputies and first responders were called to Arteaga’s Restaurant in the 6400 block of Adobe Road. A white Kia Rouge driven by Ian Bearup, 21, of Twentynine Palms, had crashed into the north wall of the restaurant, causing significant damage to the building. Neither Bearup nor his passenger were injured in the crash. However, deputies determined that Bearup, a Marine stationed at the Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Ian Bearup was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence, booked into the West Valley Detention Center following a health examination at Hi-Desert Medical Center. He was cited and released.
