DRIVE IN MOVIE THEATERS STILL A THRILL

0

Drive-in movie theaters still exist, including one in Twentynine Palms.  ROP Broadcasting student Careylyn Mendoza urges you to share in a great American tradition…

Twentynine Palms has one of the few remaining drive-in theaters in the United States. The first drive-in theater was created by Richard M. Hollingshead in the 1930’s. His efforts lead to the creation of drive-in theaters available today.   Today, drive-in theaters are not as popular as they were back then. Starting in the 1980’s, Cable TV and VCRs caused people to stay home rather than go to drive-ins. Many drive-in theaters closed down and there are as little as 353 drive-in theaters currently available in the United States.   Society is forgetting the fun experience of going to drive-ins with their families and friends. Everyone should all go to Smith’s Ranch Twentynine Palms Drive-In Theater, one of the few drive-in theaters left in the United States. It is located on 4584 Adobe Rd. in Twentynine Palms and is open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Getting in only costs 5 dollars per person and is free for children under 3 years of age. Come today and watch newly released movies every Friday! eporting for Z107.7 I’m ROP Broadcast Student Careylyn Mendoza.
