Theatre 29 opens the hilarious musical, “Don’t Hug Me, I’m Pregnant” with a gala fundraiser benefiting The Kiwanis Club. Reporter Rebecca Havely has your invitation…“Don’t Hug Me, I’m Pregnant,” a musical comedy directed by Marty Neider and Kathryn Ferguson, is set in a little bar called “The Bunyan” in Bunyon Bay, Minnesota. Clara, played by Kylie Robinson, is 8 1/2 months pregnant and looking forward to her baby shower. A freak snow storm hits and snows them in. Her husband Gunner, played by Randy Smith, realizes his worst nightmare has come true when Clara goes into labor. A pretty ex-waitress, Bernice, portrayed by Leigh-Ann Crummet, has dreams of going to Broadway. The full-of-himself business owner Kanute Gunderson is played by John Fries, and Arvid Gisselsen, a slick, karaoke salesman, will be played by Jasper Falmog. “Don’t Hug Me, I’m Pregnant” features 17 original songs including, “Bun in the Oven” and “If Men Had Babies, We’d All Be Extinct.” For Z107.7 news this is reporter managing editor Tami Roleff. “Don’t Hug Me, I’m Pregnant” plays Friday and Saturday nights through June 4 at 7 p.m., with 2:30 matinees on Sunday, May 15 and 29.
