If you are approached by someone who offers an “opportunity” for COVID-19 testing, or who offers to send you a free test for the coronavirus, beware—it’s probably a scam. Rebecca Havely has more information…
Scammers are approaching residents with offers for COVID-19 tests, and some are calling seniors about special virus test kits, or saying tests can be ordered through a tele-health provider. These scammers will ask for your Medicare number in order to send you the test. Do not give out your Medicare number, Social Security number or any other personal information in response to unsolicited calls, texts, emails, or home visits. Be suspicious of calls or anyone who goes door to door offering free COVID-19 testing, supplies, or treatments. If you have questions, call the California Senior Medicare Patrol at 855-613-7080.
